Privacy policy
We collect what is needed to sell you a bike, support it afterwards, and stay on the right side of tax law. Nothing else, and none of it is sold.
Template document – needs legal review
This is a structurally complete privacy policy written for a US direct-to-consumer retailer, but it has not been reviewed by counsel and does not yet address state-specific regimes such as the CCPA or CPA in their required wording. Replace it before launch.

What we collect
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | Name, email, phone, shipping address | Fulfilling and supporting orders |
| Order information | Items, prices, serial numbers | Order records, warranty, tax |
| Payment data | Card token from our processor | Authorising payment. We never store full card numbers |
| Technical data | IP address, device, pages viewed | Security, fraud prevention, analytics |
| Support records | Emails, call notes, videos you send | Resolving the case and finding patterns |
Card numbers are handled entirely by our payment processor and never reach our servers. We keep only a token that lets us reference the transaction for refunds.
How we use it
- To take payment, dispatch orders, and provide tracking.
- To honour warranty claims and verify that a claim is within term.
- To calculate and remit sales tax where we have nexus.
- To answer support requests, which means the technician can see your order history.
- To detect fraud and abuse, including checking for mismatched billing and shipping details.
- To send marketing email only if you opted in, with one-click unsubscribe.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Full stop.
Who else sees it
We share the minimum necessary with the parties who make the store work:
- Payment processors to authorise and settle payment.
- Carriers and freight brokers to deliver your order and handle claims.
- Warehouse and fulfilment partners who pack and dispatch.
- Email and support platforms that send order confirmations and store case history.
- Authorities, where we are legally compelled, and only to the extent required.
Your choices and rights
Email support@nationalmotorbike.com to request a copy of what we hold on you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We respond within 30 days and verify identity before acting.
Deletion is honoured except where retention is legally required – sales tax records and warranty claims in progress. In that case we explain what is being kept and why, with a date when it will go.
You can opt out of marketing email from the link in any message, and opt out of analytics cookies from the cookie control on first visit. Opting out of analytics does not affect the store’s function.
How long we keep it
| Record | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Order and tax records | 7 years, as required by tax law |
| Warranty and serial registration | Life of the warranty, plus 1 year |
| Support conversations | 3 years from last contact |
| Marketing consent record | Until withdrawn, plus 1 year as proof |
| Analytics data | 26 months, aggregated thereafter |

When we change this policy materially we email everyone with an account at least 14 days before it takes effect. Minor clarifications are published here with a new date and no email, because nobody wants an inbox full of those.
